Breaking and Entering.

I can't help it--I'm curious. I wait until Jeremy leaves the house before punching a whole in one of the glass panels of the door and slipping in otherwise soundlessly. I don't think it would be a good idea to use the front door because someone is bound to be watching and I want as much time to scope out the place as I can. I walk around the house in almost a daze, eyes open wide but seeing nothing. My sense of smell is alerted immediately to the smell of blood, although my eyes see nothing of it. It's old blood, and not quite human. Other scents are stronger-- like the smell of vampire. Had I seen actually humans or vampires pretending to be humans?

I open the fridge and am caught off guard by the strong odour of blood from an innocent-looking container at the back. Blood? Was I wrong in my initial assessment?

There is a tap on the window and I look up...
